Designing the future

Designing the Future is an event organised to mark the official opening of Concordia Design and the Open Days at the School of Form. It is held under the patronage of Lidewij Edelkoort – the mentor and co-founder of Poznań's School of Form, and the curator of Mothers of Invention exhibition at Concordia Design.

24 November 2011 Admission by invitation only!

Official Opening of Concordia Design

Grand opening of Concordia Design – the design and creativity centre for business – attended by Leszek Wojtasiak, Marshal of the Wielkopolska Region, and our guests of honour Lidewij Edelkoort and Patrizia Moroso.

The event will be complemented by the opening of several exhibitions:

Mothers of invention

// exhibition of design works by Patrizia Moroso and Patricia Urquiola, curated by Lidewij Edelkoort

"The Mothers of invention" – design works by Patrizia Moroso and Patricia Urquiola, curated by Lidewij Edelkoort, main exhibition, open until 28 December 2011.
"Patricia Urquiola studied architecture and Patrizia Moroso the arts, yet in the end they both chose design. They meet each other in a three-dimensional approach to surface design and the hand-originated finishes that dominate all work of both these women. These sisters of design share a poetic and practical passion for rounding off the edges, lowering the height, nomadising weight, and taking us to a space where we have never been before; enchanting society with textures, embroideries and patterns. "Super carino!", Patricia would exclaim. This first joint exhibition of the "Mothers of Invention", Patricia Urquiola and Patrizia Mororso, gives an overview of their individual talents as well as the energy released when the two women join forces together" – excerpt from the foreword by the exhibition's curator, Lidewij Edelkoort.

Do it yourself

>> workshop

Workshops conducted by Monika Jakubiak, aiming to make a broad audience familiar with design. All Poznań citizens are invited to our co-creation sessions where we will develop – sew, print or build – various objects of everyday use. We want to show how design can help make reality more beautiful and more functional. The workshops will comprise several working groups, e.g. slow food or brain-storming. Meble Vox will organise a workshop session devoted to creative interior design.

For more information about our events, conference registration and workshops, visit us in early November at:

Old furniture, textiles, toys, vintage household appliances will be transformed into a wide variety of lamps, seats, furniture, hammocks, cushions and other ingenious gadgets.
