We invite you to the performance "Peasants. A Tale of Us and Our Grandmothers" directed by the duo Piaskowski/Sulima, inspired by the book by Joanna Kuciel-Frydryszak. You will see the author's vision of the clash between the past and the present.
About the show: : "Peasants. A Tale of Us and Our Grandmothers" is not only an adaptation of a famous book, but above all an author's vision of the Piaskowski/Sulima duo, inspired by the fate of our grandmothers and great-grandmothers. The play explores with insight and humor how peasant roots and women's experiences from long ago resonate in the modern world. The action takes us to the multinational corporation JamWar Inc. where a group of women grapple with the problems we know from "The Peasants": poverty, inequality, excessive work or patriarchal relationships. It's a story about today's challenges, seen through the lens of the past, about untangling family ties and the search for intimacy. All this is served in the creators' characteristic style - with a large dose of black humor, distance and non-obvious perspectives.
Creators: the Piaskowski/Sulima duo are some of the most respected and award-winning theater artists in Poland, winners of, among others, the Polityka's Passport. Their productions are hosted at the country's most important theaters, such as the Stary Teatr in Krakow, TR Warszawa and Nowy Teatr in Warsaw. Known for their unbridled imagination, black humor and innovative approach to literature and culture.
