VOX Artis, together with artists Monika Blaszczak and Luisa Mateo Dupleich Rozo, invite you to a three-day dance and choreography workshop in which participants will be introduced to the creative laboratory built for the performance "Rite of Spring: Prelude."
The artists will share the exercises, tools and contexts they have worked with in their creative process. The main axis of the artists' explorations is the body and its relationship with the environment; nature, spectrality and spirits; intimacy and relationships.
The workshop will be conducted in Polish and English. Admission is free.
The workshop is focused on movement and the body, but in addition to male and female dancers, actors and actresses, visual artists, architects, artists of all disciplines and people who want to work creatively with their bodies are welcome.
" Our choreographic practice comes from a broader study of the spectrum of intimacy and affect that arises as a result of being in relationship with our contexts."
Luisa Mateo Dupleich Rozo is a Bolivian multidisciplinary artist, movement researcher and cultural ambassador. Graduating from Escuela de Ballet Cubano-Boliviano in La Paz and Trinity Laban Conservatoire in London in 2019, Luisa has presented numerous performances, choreographic and sound works in London, Bolivia and Norway, and has collaborated with many other multidisciplinary artists from around the world. Luisa works with participatory processes, creating abstract, scenic landscapes to project our human [sub]consciousness, seeking alternative languages and collective narratives to allow our modern sensibilities to evolve.
Monika Blaszczak is a Polish-Lemkian interdisciplinary artist, researcher and choreographer. As a graduate of Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London and Ogólnokształcąca Szkoła Baletowa in Poznań, she actively uses her experiences to construct violence-free choreographic practices by supporting dance communities, organizing symposiums and creating spaces to move feminstic and queer worlds. She explores the body's capacity for self-healing and the hauntological and spectral dimensions of movement. She is also interested in how choreography can provide tools for moving bodies to take care of themselves and their environment. She has presented work at Tate Modern, Lilian Baylis Studio in Sadler's Wells, The Barbican, V&A Museum and others. She currently teaches weekly open classes at the Pendulum Center in Poznan.
Luisa and Monica have collaborated on many choreographic and performance works. Studying together in London, they supported the cultural sector in their communities, maintaining ephemeral exhibition and performance spaces, organizing nightlife and collaborating with other independent artists and institutions.
