Marta Bogdanska, LOVE THAT DARE NOT SPEAK ITS NAME

Category:

The exhibition, entitled LOVE THAT DARE NOT SPEAK ITS NAME, is an original project by Marta Bogdanska, following in the footsteps of Selma Lagerlöf, Swedish writer and the first woman to receive the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1909.

The author's project considers Selma's queer legacy through a contemporary lens, analyzing whether and why such a legacy is relevant. By combining several elements - archives, photos, films, interviews/texts, sculptures - the project sheds light on Selma's queer legacy and its contemporary relevance to us.

The materiality of the letters was also an important dimension, as well as working with notions of home and belonging, which inspired Marta Bogdanska to create a series of collages and objects. The artist built them using local materials, and then photographed the results of her work. Through contact with the local LGBTQ+ community, Selma's biography comes alive, combining archival research with photographic work, a film essay, portraits and interviews with local queer people.

We cordially invite you to visit the Art Haven and learn more about the artist's work, which encourages reflection and inspiration.
